Traditional Element Matcha Tea
Ingredients:
- 1/2 - 1 teaspoon Element Matcha powder
- 2 ounces hot water (not boiling, around 175°F or 80°C)
- Bamboo matcha whisk (chasen) or electric frother
- Matcha bowl (chawan) or small mixing bowl
- Optional: sweetener of your choice (such as honey or sugar)
Instructions:
-
Heat Water: Begin by heating the water to around 175°F (80°C). It's important not to use boiling water, as it can scorch the matcha and result in a bitter taste.
-
Sift Matcha: Place the matcha powder into a matcha bowl or small mixing bowl. Use a fine mesh sieve or a matcha sifter to sift the matcha powder to remove any clumps and ensure a smooth consistency.
-
Add Water: Pour a small amount of the hot water (about 2 ounces) over the matcha powder in the bowl.
-
Whisk Matcha: Use a bamboo matcha whisk (chasen) or small whisk to vigorously whisk the matcha and water together in a zig-zag motion until the mixture becomes frothy and well combined. This step helps to dissolve the matcha powder and create a smooth, creamy texture. (Electric frother can also be used)
-
Optional: Sweeten to Taste: If desired, you can add a sweetener of your choice, such as honey or sugar, to the matcha tea. Stir well to combine.
-
Enjoy: Your matcha tea is now ready to be enjoyed!
Feel free to adjust the ratios of matcha powder and water to suit your personal taste preferences. Some people prefer a stronger matcha flavor, while others may prefer a milder taste. Experiment with different brewing techniques and enjoy the ritual of preparing and savoring traditional matcha tea!
